Meet Our Staff
Erica Douglass, Director of Programs, Lead Primary Teacher
Erica's introduction to the Montessori pedagogy began when she was looking for a preschool for her oldest child. Upon visiting a Montessori school, Erica was immediately drawn to the Montessori classroom. She loved the quiet industriousness of the children, the positive way the children communicated with each other and their teachers, and the fascinating materials. She enrolled her son (and eventually her younger two children) and that decision led to an unexpected career change. For over 20 years Erica was the Executive Director of the Ocean State Montessori School in RI. During that time she obtained her AMS teaching credential and had opportunity to teach as well as handling the administrative aspects of running a school. It is with great enthusiasm that Erica brings her Montessori experience to StoryHeights Montessori. She relishes the opportunity to be an integral part of a school that has, at its core, the ideal of making the world a better place.
When she's not touting the benefits of a Montessori education, Erica enjoys teaching and practicing yoga, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her children and family.
Holly Nobrega, Lead Toddler Teacher
Holly discovered her passion for teaching through her love of dance. While pursuing her Bachelor's degree in Dance, Holly had opportunity to teach children from aged two through eighteen years. The joy Holly felt while teaching led her to pursue her early childhood teaching certification. Holly enjoys working with toddlers because of the amazing growth and development at this stage in their lives. New milestones seem to happen on a daily basis and Holly loves to observe toddlers' language, cognitive and physical growth.
In her free time Holly enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time outdoors.
JoJo Sklar, Teacher Assistant, Primary Class
JoJo knew she wanted to be a teacher since she was five years old! Yet, when it came time to pick a major for college, JoJo turned to business. However, her love of teaching beckoned and JoJo switched to Early Childhood Education, and has pursued this career wholeheartedly since. JoJo's calm and patient demeanor in the classroom demonstrate her understanding of the importance of building a trusting relationship with her students. She is able to communicate with them at their level, and has great insights into child development. In her free time JoJo enjoys reading, watching movies, spending time with her friends, and babysitting for her younger relatives.
