Erica's introduction to the Montessori pedagogy began when she was looking for a preschool for her oldest child. Upon visiting a Montessori school, Erica was immediately drawn to the Montessori classroom. She loved the quiet industriousness of the children, the positive way the children communicated with each other and their teachers, and the fascinating materials. She enrolled her son (and eventually her younger two children) and that decision led to an unexpected career change. For over 20 years Erica was the Executive Director of the Ocean State Montessori School in RI. During that time she obtained her AMS teaching credential and had the opportunity to teach as well as handling the administrative aspects of running a school. It is with great enthusiasm that Erica brings her Montessori experience to StoryHeights Montessori. She relishes the opportunity to be an integral part of a school that has, at its core, the idea of making the world a better place.
When she's not touting the benefits of a Montessori education, Erica enjoys teaching and practicing yoga, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her children and family.
Our lead teachers are supported in the classroom by an amazing group of assistant teachers who truly love working with young children. This love is evident through their warmth, enthusiasm, caring, and dedication. They are passionate about providing an exceptional early childhood experience built on trust, positivity and experiential learning. Our teacher assistants delight in watching their students grow and learn and share in the joy and wonder of working with young children.
